Castrovel

Castrovel is a warm, verdant world with intense storms, powerful tides, and sprawling jungles and swamplands in which a tremendous variety of life roams freely. The wilderness is kept wild, and the planet's resources harvested sustainably, due to a lashunta desire to allow the same evolutionary processes that created them to develop and improve other life on the planet.

Ukulam: The only continent on Castrovel not to be conquered by a sentient race, Ukulam remains the wildest area on the planet. Large and powerful beasts, dangerous plants and gigantic mushrooms populate large areas of the continent. Following the peace accords between lashuntas and formians, each group removed most of their military installations, transformed a select few into research outposts, and left others to be reclaimed by the jungles. These small civilized areas monitor the continent's health, help maintain the peace, and also provide assistance to those brave enough to travel through the continent. Nongovernmental organizations are tasked with enforcing the continent's wild status, and they strictly enforce a limited number of permits every year to avoid disturbing the wildlife.
  • Temple of the Twelve: Located on a high plateau deep in the jungles of Ukulam, this structure was built before the Gap by elven astronomists who studies the stars and discovered a strange unnatural formation of twelve perfect stars in the distant galaxy.
  • Turhalu Point: Sitting at the edge of a large peninsula, this area was a lashunta military outpost which was recently converted into a research station monitoring the health of the Western Ocean to the east and the Singing Range to the west.

Qabarat: The Shining Jewel of the Western Sea, Qabarat is arguably the greatest of the lashunta city-states and the planet’s largest spaceport. Where the Yaro River cuts through the sea cliffs at the edge of the Stormshield Mountains, ancient walls of crushed, glittering shells rise up to cradle a modern metropolis nestled among venerable structures dating to the civilization’s beginnings. Lady Morana Kesh and her chief consort and battle leader, Grantaeus, rule the city from the Threefold House, the city’s capitol. They fight a quiet but desperate battle to maintain traditional governments and keep all of the Lashunta continent of Asana from becoming a corporate free-for-all. Visitors to the city often arrive in the spaceport at Ship’s End, passing by soldiers and mercenaries training in the legendary Battle Yards and scholars debating on the steps of the city’s numerous great universities, before arriving in the Brightstreets, which form the city’s commercial center. The city also has several public-use aiudara that link to other settlements.

  • The Gateway District is a smaller area of Qabarat along the city's eastern side, where use of the portals rarely interferes with the busy harbor and spaceports.
  • Five Arches is a cantina located off the beaten path in the Gateway District of Qarabat, near the east end of the city. A quick search of the infosphere reveals it is a café dedicated to serving the discerning palates of a dozen worlds. Reviews indicate that it's an eclectic dive with wildly variable food and drink quality combined with bizarre food pairings for the daily specials. Its facade features a large neon sign suggestive of the numerous portals in the district. A riot of different worlds' souvenirs plaster the interior's walls, and each table, booth, and bench bears the name of one of the Pact Worlds' planets or habitable moons. The Five Arches is owned by Uilee, a female android.
  • Qabarat University of Xenoarchaeology and Xenoanthropology: One of the foremost institutions of higher learning for explorers and galactic ethnographers in the Pact Worlds, the University has trained many great archaeologists and maintains a staggering archive of artifacts, recordings, and other findings from throughout the system.
